The subject not only helps students understand political systems but also assists in shaping them into aware, rational, and responsible citizens. This Class XI Political Science textbook has been prepared with this objective in mind. The book is divided into two parts. Part A: Indian Constitution focuses on the structure, functioning, and practical dimensions of the Indian Constitution. It presents, in simple and clear language, the Preamble, Fundamental Rights and Duties, the federal system, the Legislature, the Executive, the Judiciary, and the functioning of democratic institutions. This section helps students understand that the Constitution is not merely a legal document but a living and dynamic framework that guides governance in India. Part B: Political Theory deals with the theoretical study of fundamental concepts of Political Science. Through topics such as liberty, equality, justice, rights, democracy, citizenship, and nationalism, this section aims to develop students’ logical thinking, analytical ability, and conceptual clarity. The content of this book has been prepared in accordance with the curriculum and guidelines prescribed by NCERT or State Boards. The preparation of this textbook has been guided by NCERT textbooks, conceptual frameworks, and pedagogical approaches. We express our gratitude to NCERT for providing high-quality, balanced, and democratically oriented learning material that enriches the teaching–learning process. Each topic has been presented in simple language with point-wise explanations and clear illustrations, enabling students to grasp concepts easily and prepare effectively for examinations.
