The book ‘Saanjh-Sinduri’, is a collection of short stories in Hindi that depict various dimensions of life. Most of the stories center on female characters – strong character of the Indian woman. These women represent different eras, but all of them present unparalleled examples of empowered womanhood. The story ‘Awadh Tahan Jahan Ram Niwasu’ is the saga of a queen from a royal family who is a devout follower of Lord Rama and succeeds in moving God through her rigorous penance. Similarly, the heroines of ‘Dayamma’, ‘Devaki Tu, Tu Hi Yashoda’, ‘Saloni and Gauri’, ‘Beti Anmol’, and ‘Nayi Disha - Ek Naxali Prem-Katha’ are ordinary women from rural backgrounds who, when the time comes, succeed in establishing a unique identity for Indian women. The stories ‘Moh’ and ‘Virakti’ portray human psychology and feature characters we encounter in our daily lives. The emotions expressed in these stories disturb us all at some point in our lives. An attempt has been made to weave these delicate emotions into the stories. The reader may love to read these stories. Similarly, the story ‘Bantwara’ is based on the backdrop of the partition of the country.
