Dr. Ameena M. completed her B.Sc. in Agriculture, M.Sc. in Agronomy and Ph.D. in Agronomy from Kerala Agricultural University. She has joined Kerala Agricultural University in 2005 as an Assistant Professor of Agronomy and currently serves as the Professor at Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, Vellayani, Thiruvananthapuram. Her field of specialization has been weed ecology and weed management and throughout her professional career, she has been actively involved in the development of weed management strategies in rice production systems. She attended the Asia Pacific Weed Science Society Conference in Indonesia in 2013. She is a Recipient of the NUFFIC Fellowship in 2017 for undertaking international training at Wageningen University, The Netherlands. She has received the ‘Young Scientist Award’ and is a recipient of many oral and poster presentation awards. She served as team leader in various research and extension projects funded by the Government of Kerala and external agencies. Dr. Ameena has guided 11 postgraduates and 2 doctoral students and is an active life member of several professional societies, including the Indian Society of Agronomy, Indian Society of Weed Science, Indian Society of Agricultural Science and Journal of Crop and Weed. She has published more than 50 research papers and reviews in national and international peer reviewed journals, 15 booklets, 3 book chapters, 20 leaflets and more than 100 popular articles. She serves as the Editorial board member of Indian Society of Agronomy and is the south zone councillor of Indian Society of Agricultural Science.
