Featured Profile

Lalit Kumar Deb

Born in 1955 into the historic Tekkali zamindar family of Andhra Pradesh, Prof. (Dr.) Lalit Kumar Deb’s career is rooted in a legacy of advocacy and literature inherited from his father, Raja Madhusudan Deb, a prolific writer, editor, law teacher, and Advocate of the Supreme Court of India.
Dr. Deb followed a path of rigorous academic inquiry that spanned Stewart School (Bhubaneswar), Technical School (Aska), Khallikote College (Berhampur), and Andhra University (Visakhapatnam), culminating in a Doctorate in Law from Berhampur University. With a career defined by mentorship, he spent over three decades shaping legal minds at Lingaraj Law College before ascending to leadership roles at Maharashtra National Law University (Mumbai) and Birla Global University (Bhubaneswar).
Beyond the courtroom and the classroom, Dr. Deb is a dedicated historian and a member of the Odisha State Law Commission. An authority on socio-legal history, he bridges modern jurisprudence with a scholar’s devotion to ancient archaeology and antiquities, exploring the vital stories that heritage tells about our modern world.
