Dr. Sarath Raj

Dr. Sarath Raj is an academician and researcher in the field of Mechanical Engineering with significant experience in teaching, research, and curriculum development. He has completed his B.Tech, M.Tech, Ph.D., and Postdoctoral research, specializing in areas related to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), heat and mass transfer, thermal engineering, and fluid dynamics. His research primarily focuses on bubble dynamics and thermal destratification phenomena in fluid systems using advanced CFD tools such as OpenFOAM.

Dr. Raj completed his Ph.D. at Amrita School of Engineering, Amrita University, where his doctoral research focused on bubble dynamics and the deformation of free liquid surfaces in aerated liquid storage systems. His work explored mechanisms of destratification caused by predefined bubble movement and continuous gas bubbling. During his doctoral period, he also served as a teaching assistant and delivered lectures in Engineering Graphics, contributing to the academic development of undergraduate students and assisting in curriculum preparation.

He has more than five years of teaching experience and over eight years of research experience. Dr. Raj has served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Automobile Engineering, where he taught various undergraduate and postgraduate courses and guided students in research projects. In addition to teaching, he actively participates in academic research and scholarly publication.

Currently, he is involved in postdoctoral research in collaboration with institutions including UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, USA, focusing on advanced CFD-based studies related to bubble dynamics and thermal stratification phenomena.

Dr. Raj’s academic interests include CFD modeling, thermal engineering systems, metrology and instrumentation, and engineering graphics. Through his teaching and research, he aims to contribute to the advancement of engineering knowledge and the development of innovative solutions in fluid and thermal systems.
