*“Maun Varsad”* — *“The Silent Rain”* — is my first book. Yet, it is much more than a collection of stories; it is a shower of emotions born from the unspoken thoughts of my heart. Since childhood, I have been deeply passionate about reading and writing. My early short stories and poems found a place in various magazines and Diwali issues, but due to the demands of my professional life, I never found the time to give my writing a permanent home in the form of a book. After completing 36 years of service in the banking field and stepping into retirement, that long-cherished dream has finally come true. Each story in this book touches, in some way, the essence of real life. During my five-month stay in Canada, amid the calm and solitude of a distant land, these stories took shape — words flowed like rain from emotions that had long awaited expression. This book is lovingly dedicated to my parents — whose values, love, and inspiration have shaped whatever I am today. My heartfelt gratitude goes to my wife, Varsha, my son, Sapan, and my daughter, Shachi, whose constant support, patience, and understanding made this creation possible. Alongside my banking career, I have remained deeply connected with the academic world — contributing to schools and colleges, serving on the Boards of Studies of three universities, and earning a Fellowship from the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance. These experiences have enriched my perspective and, in many ways, my writing as well. I sincerely hope that the words of *“Maun Varsad”* touch the hearts of readers and that the silent emotions woven into these stories resonate deeply within their own lives.
