The present book, “Industrial Relations,” has been specially prepared for B.Com. Part–III students in accordance with the latest syllabus (BCD-2024) prescribed by the Central Board of Studies. In the modern business environment, maintaining a balance between management and workers is the key to the success of any organization. This book is an attempt to understand and explain that very balance. The book is divided into five major units: Theory and Trade Unions: This unit provides a detailed explanation of the concepts of industrial relations, along with the historical development and role of trade unions in India, and particularly in the state of Chhattisgarh. Disputes and Resolution: The practical procedures for maintaining discipline in the workplace and handling employee grievances are explained in simple and easy-to-understand language. Workers’ Participation: This section highlights workers’ participation in management and various methods for resolving industrial disputes. Legal Framework: An important part of the book is devoted to labour laws. Complex laws such as the Factories Act, 1948, the Minimum Wages Act, and Social Security-related provisions are presented in a very simple and student-friendly manner. The authors, Kuleshwar Prasad Sahu and Dr. Vijay Kumar Sahu, have used their academic experience to develop this book not only from an examination-oriented perspective but also as a useful guide for future HR managers.
