This book “Basic Electrical Skills” has been designed in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and follows the syllabus of the Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) prescribed for undergraduate students of the Physics Department. The primary objective of this book is to bridge the gap between theoretical physics concepts and their practical electrical applications. The book introduces fundamental principles of electricity in a simple, systematic, and skill-oriented manner, enabling students to develop hands-on competence along with conceptual clarity. Emphasis is given to learning by doing, as encouraged by NEP 2020, making students industry-ready and self-reliant. Core topics such as basic electrical quantities, DC and AC circuits, electrical components, measuring instruments, wiring techniques, electrical safety, and elementary troubleshooting are presented with clear explanations, diagrams, worked examples, and practical exercises. Each unit is structured to support both classroom learning and laboratory practice.
