Anshu Kumari was born in Bokaro city, currently living in Ranchi. She is first child to Sanju, a homemaker and Anil, a government officer, and older sister of Prity, an author. She has completed her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya. She has completed her Bachelors of Science in Zoology and Masters of Science (specialised in fish and fisheries), both from Ranchi University.
