Dr. Amit Kumar Gupta is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, and has done his PhD from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He has worked on deputation as a faculty member in the rank of Director, at the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (SSIFS), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, for two years. He is also a proud recipient of the Core Commander’s ‘Trishakti Medallion’, conferred to him for his noteworthy services to the Tibetology Cadre of the Indian Armed Forces. As a faculty with MEA, he has delivered lectures on numerous modules in the various training programmes for Indian Foreign Service (IFS) Officers in the rank of Under Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries, Cabinet Secretariat Officers up to the rank of Director, Interpreter Cadre Officers, and Foreign Diplomats from over eighty Foreign Countries. He has also trained the Indian diaspora from various countries and non- representational grant officials of the Ministry of External Affairs, posted both in India and abroad. Overall, he has a teaching experience of over 16 years in four Central Universities, viz. Jamia Millia Islamia, University of Delhi, Sikkim University, and Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya. He has worked on the concept of ‘soft power’, and its relevance as a foreign policy tool for India. His research interest lies in the field of India’s Foreign Policy, International Politics and Contemporary India. He has edited a book and contributed numerous book chapters and research articles in both national and international journals. He is also the founding member and has been in the editorial board of ‘Videsh Sewa’, published by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
