Acharya Priya Vrit Sharma Ji defined Dravyaguna Shastra as the branch which deals with Guna (Properties), Karma (Pharmacological Actions) and therapeutic effects of various Dravyas. The Dravyaguna is an Ayurvedic science which deals with drugs and their pharmacological actions. These pharmacological action is based on the fundamental principles of basic concepts of Dravya, Rasa, Guna, Virya, Vipaka, Prabhava, prime proto elements (Panchamahabhutas) and the phytochemicals present in the plants. With blessings of all our Ayurvedic ancestors, scholars, here a small attempt is made to gather the information related to Dravya (Indian Medicinal Plants) that are scattered in various classical Ayurvedic texts so that one could easily understand the concepts and applied it in the clinical practice effectively.
