Coastal Sand Dune vegetation of Bengal is a documentary of dune vegetation of East Midnapore district. Most probably is the first authentic book on coastal dune vegetation of Bengal. It is written based on original Pd.D. thesis of author. In this book the formation of coastal sand dune, location, morphology, type, zonation of sand dune, plant succession on dunes, causes of dune destruction and conservation are properly discussed. Past and present scenario of sand dune throughout coastal belt is discussed and also importance of dune system is also included in this book. This book is composed with 16 chapters and each and every chapter is illustrated with lucid language and proper figures and tables. It may help to the students of UG and PG students, faculty and researcher of Botany, Forestry and natural sciences also. This book is able to give a clear cut idea of coastal vegetation, sand dune vegetation, sand dune structure and morphology and adaptation of sand dune plants. In this book block wise distribution of sand dune, plant succession on sand dune stabilizing sand dune, the inorganic and organic factors which are directly and indirectly affect the dune stabilization are described vividly. How the plant succession is running on sand dune and what are the roles of manmade vegetation to stabilize the dune – everything is lucidly written. Step by step plant succession process on sand dune is illustrated with figure. The zonation of sand dunes at Digha, Sankarpur, Mandarmoni and Junput is discussed with suitable diagram. In this book author shows how the dunes are destroyed day by day and what are the probable problems will be arisen due the dune destruction in near future.
